Are you supposed to tip Stanley Steemer guys? ›

They are not mandatory - no tipping ever is, but they generally expect them. I tip more when they have to move furniture or there is a tight or hard to maneuver layout. They for the most part are really great guys and have always gone above and beyond for me.

To clean your carpet, we use hot water extraction. Unlike other carpet cleaning methods used by other companies, like carpet shampooing or dry cleaning, hot water extraction won't damage your carpet fibers or leave behind any residue. We start cleaning by spot treating any areas that need extra attention.

We are often asked about steam cleaning upholstery. However, at Stanley Steemer we do not steam clean furniture. We use a process called hot water extraction to clean upholstery, which is often referred to as steam cleaning because of the steam you see as we clean.

Do carpet cleaners vacuum before they clean? All carpets should be vacuumed prior to being cleaned. Most professional carpet cleaning companies ask that you vacuum before they come to clean, while some may do it for you, after they arrive. Be sure you know what is standard practice by the company you call.

Do carpet cleaning companies charge for moving furniture? Some companies may factor the cost of moving furniture in with your quote. Again, this is especially true of larger household items. It makes perfect sense for them to do this as most heavy items can only be moved with two people, and 2 people mean 2 wages.

DIY Carpet Cleaning Machines are Weak

Unlike professional carpet cleaning systems. This means that you will not rinse the carpet fibers thoroughly. Also, the low pressure water you do put down will not be adequately vacuumed up. This may leave you with a soggy, musty smelling carpet.

Your carpet will be only slightly damp to the touch after your cleaning. Most carpets typically need 6-10 hours to dry completely. However, it could take up to 24 hours to dry depending on the time of year your carpets are cleaned, and the air circulation, humidity and temperature in your home.
