On our way home from Puglia, we had to spend the night in Frankfurt. I have stayed at the Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel & Conference Center many times and had been wanting to stay at the Frankfurt Airport Marriott Hotel since it opened in 2020. What was once a 1,008-room hotel became two (with 779 rooms for the Sheraton and 233 broken out into the Marriott). The refurbishment looks great and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Anthony’s Take: The hotel is one of my favorite airport hotels. It’s much more convenient if you’re flying on a Star Alliance airline as it’s directly connected to Terminal 1, but even flying Delta from Terminal 2 was pretty easy. The Marriott shares amenities like its fitness center, restaurants, and spa with the Sheraton. The M Club lounge is the former Sheraton lounge space. Either hotel is a great choice when overnighting at Frankfurt Airport (FRA).

Booking

I booked a 1 King Deluxe Guest Room on a Marriott Luminous rate. I am a Fora travel advisor and have access to rates that the average consumer cannot book (if you’re looking for more information, please reach out to me at anthony.losanno@fora.travel). The rate was €239 and included breakfast for two, early check in and late checkout (based on availability), room upgrades when available, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a welcome amenity. This rate was the same as if I had booked it directly with Marriott, but with the perks listed above. If using Marriott Bonvoy® points, a Deluxe Guest room, 1 King, which is a base-level room costs 37,000 to 52,000 per night.

Transportation to/from the Hotel

We arrived on an ITA Airways flight from Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) (review here) and took the shuttle bus over to Terminal 1 and the hotel. We took the bus back to Terminal 2 the next morning for our Delta Air Lines flight to New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) (review here).

Location

The hotel is located within walking distance of Terminal 1. It shares space with the Sheraton as noted above. Signage will guide you from Terminal 1 fairly easily. There are two lobbies and you head to the left for the Marriott.

Check-in

We arrived around 3:30 PM and our room was ready. I had already noticed an upgrade to an Executive Room (located on the same floor as the M Club). The agent told me about the M Club and outlined my benefits as a Titanium member. I could have breakfast in the lounge, evening snacks would be served shortly, and my rate also included breakfast in the restaurant. I’d also receive 1,000 points as a welcome amenity for my elite status. Our keys were coded and she directed us to the elevators across the lobby.

There is a tiny cafe in the lobby, but there was no one working there while we were in the lobby.

The view from the room didn’t provide much to look at outside.

Restaurants

We had dinner at The Eatery Kitchen and Bar located in the hotel lobby. The kitchen had crashed and people were waiting over two hours for food. Thankfully, ours did not take that long. It was a long wait and the food quality was poor. The hotel has several other dining options including Restaurant Flavors (where breakfast is served) and Taverne (which offers authentic German beer hall food). We have eaten in Taverne before and loved it.

Hotel Review: Frankfurt Airport Marriott Hotel - The Bulkhead Seat (61)

We started with what was supposed to be Clam Chowder. It was grainy and weird.

Hotel Review: Frankfurt Airport Marriott Hotel - The Bulkhead Seat (62)

I ordered the Poke Bowl, but only had a few bites as it tasted off.

Hotel Review: Frankfurt Airport Marriott Hotel - The Bulkhead Seat (63)

My husband had the Philly Cheesesteak. It was an interpretation of the classic sandwich and also a bit odd. It was a huge portion, though.

It has big locker rooms with showers.

Hotel Review: Frankfurt Airport Marriott Hotel - The Bulkhead Seat (77)

The co-ed spa is right outside. This is Germany, expect mixed-gender nudity here.

Hotel Review: Frankfurt Airport Marriott Hotel - The Bulkhead Seat (81)

I found the foot bath here odd and am not sure what there real function is in the spa without technicians for pedicures.

Overall Impression: You can’t go wrong with either the Sheraton or the Marriott here. I really enjoyed this stay and this might be my favorite airport hotel. I know where I’ll be if I have another overnight layover at Frankfurt Airport (FRA).
